I began receiving phone calls in relation to a debt I do not believe I owe, for a hospitalization in 2014 for which I had already paid the ER bill. The debt collector would not provide me with information about what the debt was from, specifically. I was afraid that they were not a legitimate debt collector, and I did not know where the debt from from. I therefore sent them a letter on XXXX XXXX, after many harassing phonecalls but NO mail received, asking them to contact me via mail and provide me with the following, as they are obligated to do under FDCPA section 809 : What the money you say I owe is for specifically, with a breakdown of charges and the bill from the original debtor ; Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe ; Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe ; Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable ; Identify the original creditor specifically, not the umbrella term of " XXXX XXXX '' as I have called both branches of XXXX XXXX to no avail ; Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account ; Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent.
It is not XXXX XXXX and I have not received any of this information from the credit agency, Optimum Outcomes. I have called XXXX XXXX and verified that my ER bill is paid. I am now being declined for loans and credit cards because of the negative impact Optimum Outcomes has made on my credit report while trying to collect a debt that they refuse to even provide information for.
