Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Tuesday 2nd February 2016.
I started getting phone calls from credit card called Emerge, This company took over a credit card account of mine in good standing in XXXX or earlier but i can not remember the creditors name. I since have paid on time by check every month and my account has always been current with Emerge until XXXX of XXXX when they said they did not get my payment, they then charged me a late fee, I sent another check including the late fee and payment in XXXX, they have not cashed either check and call me XXXX or six times a day, to get a payment by phone. On XXXX/XXXX/XXXX I asked for the following info- Please provide me with The creditors name you are collecting for, they did not give me the creditors name, only Emerge. I asked for the amount owed, they said {$580.00} and i asked how can i dispute or get confirmation that i owe this dept, they did not respond, i said i need this information sent to me with in 5 days in writing and i will be filing a complaint with the O.C.C and i hung up the phone. I have never been late on payments in many years and find it extremely odd that i am now not behind on the dept and never have been, and all of a sudden they started charging me late fee 's and saying they did n't recieve my payment and want payments by phone, also i find it unusual that they wo n't give me the creditors name they are collecting for XXXX the original owner of the account from XXXX ). If i can request an investigation to see whats going on, if this is a practice or tactic to get more money from me by not cashing my checks by increasing my bill with late fee 's, I read a review online of another man with this same issue with Emerge and he found through the O.C.C. this company was doing some wrong practices towards him and his matter was resolved with a {$2000.00} balance dropped to {$0.00} balance after the investigation. That is just hear say but is what i read. I am filing this complaint for me XXXX XXXX XXXX mother, She is not proficient in computers so i am representing her in this request.
