I have an active account with XXXX. I have been with them for XXXX years. Recently, I cancelled my phone services because they charged me huge amount on long distance call when I did notify me of a promotion extension. I called them and them told me I owe {$270.00}. I made payment arrangements with them.
About XXXX weeks ago, I got a call from credit control corporation about the same debt. I informed them that they were not valid debt and XXXX had advise me to make the payments with them directly. Another representative called me on the XXXX and I told her the same and she said that 's okay, she will go ahead and update the account accordingly.
On XXXX/XXXX/2015, I got an alert in the evening that it has been reported on my account by Credit control Corporation after I made payment to cox in the Morning. Attached is a proof of my receipt from XXXX for the payment.
First, of all, I disputed this charge with credit control corporation XXXX on the phone and requested that they send me something in writing. Informed them that XXXX has told me to make the payment with XXXX directly and did not even know why they had my file. Yet they still went ahead and placed this on my credit dropping my score from XXXX to XXXX. I am in the middle of buying a house and I am not sure on how this will impact my final closure or rate.
I called them after their illegal action. They told me I need to pay a collection fee of {$45.00} and extra {$7.00} processing fee, even though they did not collect anything and I made the payment of XXXX to XXXX. XXXX told me they have requested the account to be transferred to them direct. As a proof, I went ahead to pay them the collection fee as evidence of their bad practices.
I called XXXX and asked them why did they tell me they have no knowledge of my account being sent to the collection agency when I contact them to let them know about the initial attempt and they also advised me to ignore the collection agency and make payments with them and failed to communicate this with the Agency.
This has affected my credit and I need them to be held responsible for this!
