I went to deposit a check in my Bank of America account from a relative. I was desperate with a sudden eviction after my apartment went condo so a relative helped me financially. After depositing it, their check was returned due to unpaid funds and I was charged a " Returned Item Chargeback Fee '' for {$12.00}. This is a ridiculously unjust fee- how was I to know that the check I was depositing would bounce? Why am I penalized for this?
