I received a letter from a credit card co. that my account was closed because it was past due, but I was unaware of a balance because they stopped sending a statement, and they did n't send an e-mail notification either. I paid the outstanding balance, which included {$99.00} in fees plus interest, because I thought it may have been my error, but after researching the matter realized it was n't. now they say because the account is closed and the balance has been paid off they ca n't refundthose fees. I have always up to that point paid my bills on time. This has had an impact on my credit rating.
