Complaint #1761755 submitted on 01/28/2016 relating to The Bureaus, Inc.. Complaint relates to Debt collection Credit card - Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid.
Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Thursday 28th January 2016.
The Bureaus is a debt buyer/collector who purchased a XXXX account ; I settled this debt in XXXX XXXX with The Bureaus ( see attached settlement letter and proof of payment ) but The Bureaus continued reporting the account to the credit reporting agencies with a balance. I disputed the account per the FCRA both with the credit reporting agencies and The Bureaus directly and the account was removed. However, I now find that the account is, again, reporting to the XXXX credit reporting agency with a balance of {$410.00}. Since XXXX originally removed the account from my report, The Bureaus obviously re-reported the account in error. Per FTC Staff Opinion letter, dated XXXX/XXXX/XXXX, the reporting of a charged-off debt to a consumer reporting agency is a collection activity, therefore this erroneous reporting by The Bureaus is a violation of both the FCRA and the FDCPA as well as a violation of the FCBA.
