I underwent a XXXX XX/XX/2014 at XXXX XXXX XXXX Hospital, XXXX, KY, the XXXX of XXXX that year. The first XXXX were properly billed and paid by my Medicaid insurer. In the case of the XXXX XXXX, the hospital attempted to bill the wrong insurance carrier, then failed to recognize the error for more than a year. Now, XXXX XXXX 's has turned the bill over to Central Financial Control for collection. It is illegal for a hospital to send a collection agency after a Medicaid recipient. Under Kentucky law, balance billing is prohibited for Medicaid recipients not in an XXXX.
