Amex Complaint: Credit determination

#1706571 17 Dec 2015

Credit card

Complaint #1706571 submitted on 12/17/2015 relating to Amex. Complaint relates to Credit card - Credit determination .

Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Thursday 17th December 2015.

Narrative (may be redacted).

American Express has not complied with the law. The Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) allows you to get a free credit report if your application is denied. However, you can only get a free report from the credit reporting company that provided the report used by your lender to make its decision. The lender must provide instructions on how to request your report from XXXX or from XXXX of the other national credit reporting companies, depending on which company provided the report. In XXXX letter American express stated its denial was based on a FICO score from XXXX, but it did not provide instructions as to how to get a free credit report. The law states they must do this and refusal to reinstate an account is the same thing legally as a refusal of credit upon application. And therefore they did not comply with the law, another instance of no valid proof as to why they closed our account or anything else, because they are misstating the facts and not complying with federal rules, laws and regulations in any regard.
