Complaint #1684485 submitted on 12/05/2015 relating to Monterey Financial Services, Inc.. Complaint relates to Consumer Loan Installment loan - Taking out the loan or lease .

Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Thursday 10th December 2015.

Narrative (may be redacted).

I ordered an exercise machine from XXXX off of a television infomercial. I agreed to pay XXXX payments of {$49.00} per month. One month after receiving the equipment I received a letter from Monterey Financial Services advising that I have a loan with them. A week later the account showed up on my credit bureau report. I never agreed to having an installment loan placed on my credit bureau reports. XXXX XXXX took it upon themselves to set up an account with Monterey Financial. During the course of paying for the equipment I got behind and Monterey Financial reported me as 61-90 days past due. When called Monterey and advised that I was going to sue them as I never gave authorization for them to open an account in my name and place it with the XXXX credit bureaus. XXXX the representative I spoke with received authorization from her supervisor XXXX XXXX that Monterey would change the status to paid as agreed if I paid the account off.I checked my credit files and found that they only reported the account as paid but with late payments. This was not the agreement. Further more the account should have never been placed on my credit files.
