Debt collection Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.)

Complaint #1676396 submitted on 11/30/2015 relating to Caine & Weiner Co. Inc.. Complaint relates to Debt collection Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.) - Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid.

Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Monday 30th November 2015.

Narrative (may be redacted).

Canceled a Renters Insurance Policy 6 years ago, but apparently it did n't get cancelled, and was continued to be billed through payroll deduction that went un-noticed. Company changed something so the payroll deduction stopped. Policy was sent to collections due to non-payment. Debt collection company, Caine & Weiner, started to contact me through letters and calls claiming I owe {$71.00}. In XXXX I contacted original XXXX XXXX, the original policy holder, explained the situation, received around {$1000.00} as a refund for the overbilling of the account and was assured that the collection attempts would stop. I then disputed the claim with Caine & Weiner through an email address they provided because their representative claims that disputes can not be made over the phone. I believed matter was concluded but then Caine & Weiner resumed trying to collect a debt not owed in the middle of XXXX. Also, instead of calling my phone number like they had no problem doing so month ago, they are now calling my family members to contact me. I have reached out to XXXX XXXX and have been sent confirmation of not owing any money.
