XXXX XXXX with Empire Resolutions has called my ex-husband, his Mother, and his brother, when he has my phone numbers and I have spoken to him about my desire to pay the debt. His illegal calls were made after I tried to set up a payment, but the lawyer promising me to have my divorce settlement keeps promising a date for my money, then having a reason for pushing it back. I have been trying to get this divorce settlement for over a year and this is the reason that I could not pay the XXXX bill. The original bill amount was XXXX. I would happily set up to pay this amount. XXXX XXXX XXXX led me to believe that the amount he quoted me was the original debt amount, less fees and late charges. It turned out that it was the full amount with fees and finance charges. He threatened to take me to court if I did not agree to pay the full amount, which he said would easily cost me XXXX times the amount. When I called him back he said that they were not a debt collection agency but a pre-law company and that their lawyers said that the amount of the debt was low so they would not take off the fees. I believe he was lying to me and trying to threaten and scare me into agreeing to pay the full debt to his advantage. i am trying hard to pay my debts and do not plan to file bankruptcy. I am sick of all the collection agencies using these tactics to collect their fees. This man should lose his job.
