Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Tuesday 29th September 2015.
I had a collection agency Patenaude & Felix call at work. When I picked up I was surprised to even hear them state they are a collection agency trying to collect a debt. I interrupted them and stated that this is a work phone and to not call back. I hung up. After that I have received several more calls and voicemail from them. I received a garnishment letter from my employer stating that Patendaude & Felix is garnishing my check. I called the company and they verified that the phone number they have on file which is my work number and that the second number to call which is my actual number. They than said that they have a mailing address of XXXX XXXX for me which was just updated. and stated XXXX previous addresses. I said that I have lived in the same house for over 5 years and the XXXX XXXX address is my work address and i just started working here 2 years ago. so it was weird they had that address but not my current address that I have had for 5 years. I also stated the other XXXX addresses were from XX/XX/XXXX. I asked how they can not send me any notification through the mail and how they can have an address form XX/XX/XXXX and my work address from XX/XX/XXXX but not my current address from the last 5 years. I have no clue how they can conduct business or how the courts can give them a judgement when I was nevered notified. I called and told them that I have been paying everything off that was on my credit report so I can rebuild it and have been working on this for the last 2 1/2 years. I stated i have never received anything from them and Im willing to set up a payment arrangement in order ot stop them form garnishing {$550.00} out of my check. They said the only way is to pay {$1000.00} down then they would stop the garnishment and refund my {$550.00}. I said that I do n't have that kind of money. I said can they just keep the {$550.00} that was taken out of my paycheck as the down payemnt and then start a monthly plan. They refused. I said Im trying my hardest to get this resolved and you are not making it easy especially for someone that was never notified. I received a notice from a debt collector a month ago saying I owed on a credit card. I immediately called them and set up a payment plan. So im not sure why I never received anything from them. I get I owe them the money and I want to make it right but when you only get {$1500.00} a month and they take out XXXX that leaves me XXXX and my car payment is XXXX insurance is XXXX, phone XXXX, plus rent and utilities and my current {$50.00} a month credit card bill and the now {$100.00} for another past due credit card. I also owe taxes because im single with no dependents so I owe every year. How can this be fair. I just want to pay them but also want to be able to pay my other bills. I was at a XXXX credit score 2 years ago and now XXXX which I have worked hard to get to. Now what do I do? not pay my bills because of this crazy company?
