Complaint #1581048 submitted on 09/25/2015 relating to Equifax. Complaint relates to Credit reporting - Incorrect information on credit report Information is not mine.

Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Wednesday 30th September 2015.

Narrative (may be redacted).

On XXXX XXXX 2014 someone attempted to obtain a credit card in my name with XXXX Credit. I discovered it on my credit report and contacted XXXX Credit. They did an investigation and determined it was fraud. They followed up with timely correspondence and notified XXXX credit bureaus and instructed them to remove the item from the Hard inquiry portion of my credit report. XXXX removed the item almost immediately..Equifax has not XXXX XXXX fraud department has now notified Equifax XXXX different times. I have written XXXX letters filed XXXX online disputes and spent many hours on the phone with Equifax. Initially Equifax claimed they could not verify my identity ... they requested my birth certificate my drivers license my marriage certificate XXXX utility bills and my XXXX be sent to them. I was reticent to send such documentation but went ahead and sent it. I received another letter in response from Equifax telling me to resend the documents which I did not do ... I called Equifax and they said they had the documentation ... Yesterday I received yet another letter from Equifax again asking for the documents that they already verified they had. With my corresponce to Equifax I also included copies of all the corresponce to me from XXXX verifying that the item was indeed fraud. Equifax told me they do have that correspondence from me but that it is worthless because it must come from XXXX direct ... I advised them XXXX fraud department has sent XXXX letters and they claim they do not have any such letters ... I contacted XXXX and the assured me they have indeed contacted Equifax. The XXXX fraud department then sent an additional letter as follow-up. I then contacted Equifax again and the once again claimed they have nothing from XXXX. They then advised me that the only way they will remove the item is if XXXX calls their business office direct. I asked for the number of the business office and they declined to give it to me saying XXXX knows the number it 's business to business. I again called XXXX and they said they had never heard of such a thing and directed me back to Equifax..Equifax then said well they will only remove it if they send the request electronically. I asked Equifax if I could have the electronic address and they declined saying once again XXXX knows where to send it. Back to XXXX and they said it was absurd. I am now at an impasse..I have spent three hours on the phone today alone Equifax just keeps passing me from department to department and declining to remove the item. I have a complete file with dates and documents and correspondence I can provide if need. My husband and I are about to retire and attempting to obtain a mortgage and this item has been holding up that process for almost four months. I need some assistance.
