Bank of America Complaint: Account opening, closing, or management

#1784897 12 Feb 2016

Bank account or service Checking account

Complaint #1784897 submitted on 02/12/2016 relating to Bank of America. Complaint relates to Bank account or service Checking account - Account opening, closing, or management .

Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Friday 12th February 2016.

Narrative (may be redacted).

Was charged XXXX, XXXX USD overdraft fees from Bank of America on a checking account. The accounts were properly funded with a transfer from another linked checking account but Bank of America staggered the posting of the transaction so that the XXXX debits that caused an overdraft posted after the transfer in order to incur a fee. This was verified by a customer service agent over the phone who attempted to waive the fee but could not because 'reordering transactions is bank policy, not bank error '. I have argued about overdraft fees in the past with Bank of America as I feel they use algorithmic systems to reorder transaction to incur the maximum number of overdraft fees. I had a similar set of instances like this occur in late 2015.
