Complaint #1558058 submitted on 09/09/2015 relating to American Collections Enterprise, Inc.. Complaint relates to Debt collection Medical - Communication tactics Threatened to take legal action.
Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Wednesday 9th September 2015.
My parents received repeated phone calls from a company called ACEI ( American Collections Enterprises Inc ) regarding an alleged {$39.00} debt I owed to a dental practice. A woman by the name of XXXX XXXX requested that I call them.
XXXX XXXX -- and her manager, XXXX XXXX -- both committed what I believe are violations of debt collection laws. They said the phone conversation was recorded, so I believe there is a clear record of their misrepresentations on file.
XXXX XXXX told me that the debt dated from XXXX XXXX, 2008. When I asked if it was legally enforceable, she told me that it was. This is flatly untrue -- I live in XXXX, XXXX, a jurisdiction with a three year statute of limitations.
Additionally, when I asked for written confirmation of ACEI 's attempt to collect the debt, both XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX refused to mail me such a notice, even after I informed them of their obligation to do so.
I do not believe I owe this debt, and I believe that ACEI is providing false information to consumers about their obligation to pay out-of-statute debts.
