The purpose of this letter is to inform you that I disputing my debt with Ability Recovery Services XXXX LLC of {$2000.00}. The debt that I owe originated from XXXX University XXXX " the School '' ). The reason why I am disputing this debt is because my outstanding debt to the school is {$1600.00}. However, upon receiving a collection notice from the Ability Recovery Services XXXX LLC ( " the Company '' XXXX, the outstanding debt increased by {$400.00}.
On XXXX XXXX, 2015, I spoke to XXXX XXXX XXXX a representative of the Company to request the actual amount I owe to the School. During my conversation with XXXX XXXX, I informed her that the collection amount sent to me was incorrect and that I was told by the School to ask them how much they were charging me over and above my outstanding debt. XXXX XXXX 's response was that her company was not going to disclose that information as I did not have a need to know about my outstanding debt and that the Company had a right to profit off of me. After writing the attached letter to the Company on XXXX XXXX, I received an Account History Report from the Company on XXXX XXXX, which I have included.
There are few issues that I would like investigated. The reason for the investigation is that I believe the Company is conducting an unethical business.
The XXXX item I would like you to investigate is the excess charge of {$400.00} over and above my outstanding debt with the School. The XXXX issue deals with the threats and harassment by XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX became threating and started harassing me during the conversation in which she told me it did not matter that I was working with the School as they were going to report my outstanding debt to the credit bureau regardless of the efforts I was taking to address my debt. At that point, I asked to speak to a manager and was not allowed to do so. In fact, XXXX XXXX told me that was not going to talk to me and that they had no reason to do so. She proceeded to hang up the phone on me.
In closing, I am still striving to work with the School to see if we can settle my outstanding debt and set up payment arrangements.
