The collection company involved, Bayside Capital Services, while we were visiting my Aunt and Uncle in XXXX, somehow found out we were down there and somehow obtained my Aunt and Uncles phone number. They began calling them wanting to talk to my wife, and threatening that if my Aunt and Uncle did n't put us in contact with them immediately that they would receive a visit from an unspecified person, an assertion that greatly upset my Aunt.
We live in XXXX, XXXX miles from my Aunt and Uncles house, and we had no contact with them while we were down there. How they found out we were down there and obtained my Aunt and Uncles number is very concerning.
When we got home, they called and spoke to my wife, the first communication we have had with them, they immediately demanded that we make a payment to them or we would receive a visit from an unspecified person, my wife was scared by what they were telling her and she consented to making a payment.
I sent them an email, explaining how upset I was and telling them that I was aware of the requirements of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act as far as what they are allowed to do to communicate with us, and also what they are required to do, including furnishing us with the relevant documentation and allowing us the requisite time to dispute the debt.
The next morning, they deposited the money they had coerced my wife into allowing them to deduct, back into our joint account. They then called and addressed some of my concerns that I addressed in my email, we missed the call, they left a voicemail.
I called them back and they immediately began attempting to try to get me to just go along with their ridiculous, illegal tactics, I did not.
I explained how upset I was about what they told my Aunt when they spoke to her and the individual I was speaking said that I had no proof that they had said those things to her, intimating that my Aunt is lying ... which greatly upset me.
I told them I was going to pursue legal action against them and I hung up.
