My daughter wants to return her vehicle 7 months early and payoff the remaining payments on her lease. XXXX is now telling us that we could be responsible for the difference between what they can sell the car for at auction and what the residual value is. Therefore, I will be at their mercy and could wind up with a bill of {$5000.00} or more. We are totally at the their mercy. I have turned in leased cars before and have never experienced anything like this. They have absolutely nothing to lose. Sell the car for {$5000.00} and stick the consumer with the difference. I do not know how this practice is actually legal. I want all consumers to be aware of dealing with VW and what you can possibly be up against.
