Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Friday 19th June 2015.
On XX/XX/XXXX I was contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX stating that I owed a payday loan from XXXX ( they said XXXX had bought out several other payday loan companies and were just now collecting the debt ) from XX/XX/XXXX. They stated that unless I paid that day they would charge me with fraud and I would be served with a summons either at home or at work to go to court. They had all my personal information including my social security number. In my profession it would hurt my job if they were to come to my place of work .They caught me off guard and scared me to death. My husband and I paid the {$1000.00} dollars. At this time XXXX XXXX sent me a document through e-mail that I had paid the loan off in full. This is a document that I could have typed up myself. There is nothing that suggests that this is an official document from a legitimate company. I have received no documentation from them concerning this debt. Then I went to my bank and talked with them. They advised me that it was probably a scam and I had fraud protection on my account. I canceled my debit card and reported it to the fraud department at my bank. They are investigating it now. Yesterday XX/XX/XXXX, I received another call from XXXX XXXX XXXX because my bank canceled the {$1000.00}. They said I had to pay then or I would be served with a summons at my home or job. They also said by then I would have to pay for legal representation, court costs and interest on the loan so it would be better to pay now. I have asked over and over for documentation that I owe this money. I also asked for a copy of the original contract from the original company. I have yet to receive any documentation or an address and phone for XXXX. I have tried to find a number on the internet for this company but the numbers I do find are not working. I also XXXX the address for XXXX XXXX XXXX and it is an address for a shipping company. I did take out some payday loans years ago ( stupidly ) because we were in a financial crisis, but I know I paid them all back. I have told them I would gladly pay if they could show me some documentation, but XXXX XXXX just said they would send the information on to XXXX.
