Complaint was submitted via Web and sent to the company on Monday 9th November 2015.
This company contacted a number where I have not lived in 20 years several times over the course of a month. The number they called belongs to my parents ( XXXX ) and as I stated I have not lived there for almost 20 years.
My parents were XXXX for several weeks and returned to 14 messages ( which I have recordings of ) from this company claiming they were trying to reach me about a " Legal Situation '' and provided a " Case Number '' to reference.
One of the messages made a threat that I will be contacted by the Sheriffs Office if I did not respond in 48 hours.
When I contacted the company they provided a lot of the very same threats, and at one point they stated they have already filed a case in my county to sue for the debt and provide the same " Case Number '' they listed on my parents voicemail.
He was not able to tell me which district court or XXXX precinct the case was filed, and a quick search on my county clerks website showed there was not case filed with me listed as a defendant, and the case number format given by the company was not even correct.
The representative eventually hung up on me after he couldnt answer my questionsIt took me asking several times to find out what they were claiming to collect on. I still do n't know. The representative kept saying " you know you owe the money, just pay. " This was the first contact I have ever had from this company. He was not able to answer very basic questions required under FCRA and FDCPA.
I also believe that they are violating UDAAP by claiming a case was already filed against me and they would send the Sheriff to contact me if I did n't call back.
I have recordings of all their messages left at my parents phone number as well as a recording of my phone call with the company.
